Damon Producing Film About Yankees' Famous Wife-Swap

from contactmusic.com...

Actors Matt Damon and Casey Affleck have reportedly been snubbed by former baseball star Mike Kekich over a movie documenting the Yankees' wife-swapping scandal.

The Hollywood pair is working on a script for The Trade, based on the notorious incident in the 1970s when Kekich and his Yankees team-mate Fritz Peterson traded lovers.

New York Post gossip column PageSix reports Damon and Affleck have hired several veteran sports journalists to help persuade Kekich and other former baseball stars to help out with the script - but Kekich has refused.

A source tells the publication, "Kekich is panic-stricken. He has moved away and has a new identity. He is freaked out that those working on the movie found out where he is. He isn't too keen on having the scandal dredged up again after all this time.
"Other Yankees from that time have also been really unhelpful with facts and details of what happened. They are stonewalling."

The Wilpons Are Duped and Met Fans Pay the Price

Let's Say Farewell to the Wilponzis!

from John Maloney....Give Me Liberty or Give Me a Championship!!!

I remember reading an online article about Fred Wilpon two years back when the wheels had officially fallen off the Omar Minaya Era and being a Met fan became a miserable experience once again. In the article, people who used to be in the organization were anonymously quoted about the type of person and owner he was. The general consensus was that Fred Wilpon was a nice man, a loyal and decent human being……….perhaps a little too nice and a little too loyal. One of the former employees in the piece described Wilpon as “a well-meaning dope”.

I loved that line. It was a wonderfully apt description, even more so now. The Mets are comically inept because owners Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz are well-meaning dopes.

Latest Acquisitions Won't Offset Yankees Not Signing Lee

Bombers Ink Retreads Colon, Garcia

from Steve Gardner / USA Today....

This probably wasn't the way the New York Yankees envisioned their starting rotation shaping up. After losing out on their top free-agent target, left-hander Cliff Lee, the Yanks have turned to the recycling bin in an effort to round out their starting five.

According to multiple sources, they have reached an agreement on a minor-league deal with veteran right-hander Freddy Garcia.

This comes on the heels of a similar minor-league deal last week with another veteran righty, Bartolo Colon.......Read More

Alderson: Santana Return Still Uncertain

Johan Santana pitching for the New York Mets o...On Jan. 14, the Mets announced that Johan Santana had been cleared by doctors to resume throwing as part of his rehabilitation from left shoulder surgery last September. That step hasn't been taken yet, Alderson said following a news conference to introduce utility infielder Chin-lung Hu.

"To my knowledge, he's not throwing at this point," Alderson said. "But again, that's his own decision and based on how he feels. I think the [physical therapists] recommended that he continue to do certain exercises, and when he feels like he's ready to toss, he will. He's medically cleared, but to my knowledge, he hasn't actually started throwing yet."
